MSI G272QPF E2 debuts as new 27-inch gaming monitor with Rapid IPS technology and 180 Hz refresh rate
MSI has presented the G272QPF E2, a 27-inch gaming monitor built around a Rapid IPS panel. As such, the monitor delivers 1 ms GtG response times, although these are over 3x slower than those offered by OLED panels and their various variants. At any rate, the G272QPF E2 also outputs at 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, a resolution more commonly referred to as 1440p or 2.5K.
Additionally, the monitor has a 180 Hz refresh rate aided by Adaptive Sync support. However, the inclusion of HDMI 2.0 ports restricts the G272QPF E2 to 144 Hz at 1440p, or 120 Hz for current game consoles. As such, the monitor can only master 180 Hz and 1440p gaming when using its DisplayPort 1.4a port. Nonetheless, 90% Adobe RGB and 94% DCI-P3 colour space coverages are offered regardless of the video input used.
Likewise, MSI quotes 300 nits peak brightness, a 1,200:1 contrast ratio and 8-bit colour depth aided by FRC. Moreover, the G272QPF E2 has an adjustable stand and 100 x 100 mm VESA mounts for connecting third-party stands. Unfortunately, MSI has not confirmed pricing yet. However, it has provided full technical specifications on a dedicated product page.
