KEF has presented a brand new flagship subwoofer that is said to achieve twice the volume of the KC62 and, thanks to 1000 watts of power and 11 Hz of bass, emulates the experience of a live rock concert in the living room. Four more affordable Kube models are also on offer.

The new KEF KC92 flagship subwoofer is designed to be as powerful as it is versatile. To achieve this, KEF has installed two 23-centimeter aluminum-paper drivers in a force-cancelling design, i.e. on opposite sides of the housing, as well as two amplifiers, each of which achieves a continuous output of 500 watts. KEF advertises an impressive maximum volume of 110 dB for its size and frequencies up to 11 Hz.

A switch on the rear activates an equalizer to optimize the sound for placement in corners and close to walls. Firmware updates can be installed via USB-C. Using the KEF KW1, the subwoofer can be connected wirelessly to practically any system compatible with subwoofers. At the same time, KEF also has the more affordable Kube series on offer. The four models in this series are equipped with only one driver each, which is significantly larger in the larger versions at up to 38 centimeters, but the housing is correspondingly larger.

Just like the KC92, the Kube range can be connected either via line-in, via KEF SmartConnect or wirelessly via KEF KW1. The Kubes also have an equalizer for optimizing room placement as well as the option of automatically waking up from standby mode when a signal is detected. The Kubes don't go quite as low as the new top model; depending on size, KEF specifies frequencies down to 34 Hz, 24 Hz, 22 Hz or 20 Hz.

Prices and availability

The KEF KC92 flagship subwoofer is offered in either black or white and is available from the manufacturer's online store for $1999.99. The Kube series comprises four models, which are only available in black, at the following prices:
