The latest flagship AV receiver from Marantz is clearly aimed at demanding home cinema enthusiasts with complex setups, for the Cinema 30 can drive up to 13 speakers, plus four subwoofers, and can be connected to three 8K televisions simultaneously.

The Marantz Cinema 30 aims to win over buyers with maximum compatibility and flexibility, for which the manufacturer has installed seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs. Of these, at three inputs support HDMI 2.1 and thus 8K signals up to 60 Hz, or 4K signals up to 120 Hz, including support for VRR, ALLM, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDMI CEC.

The list of ports could scarcely be any longer, ranging from a Phono input for record players, old-fashioned composite- and component inputs to optical Toslink ports: no standard is missing on the Cinema 30. On top of this, there are 13 speaker terminals and four dedicated subwoofer outputs, allowing for the effortless setup of 13.4 surround-sound systems. Eleven 140-watt class AB amplifiers are used to operate passive speakers.

If such power is not enough, the Cinema 30 can also be used as a preamplifier and an additional power amp can be connected to drive larger speakers. A SHARC dual DSP and a ESS Sabre 32-bit D/A converter guarantee distortion-free sound, while the Audyssey MultEQ-XT32 software and the supplied microphones allow users to adapt the sound to their own environment. Streaming features such as Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth also form part of the standard features of the AV receiver.

Price and availability

The Marantz Cinema 30 AV receiver will be available at specialist retailers from mid-March for a recommended retail price of $4500, either in black or silver with gold accents. More information on the features can be found on the official product page
