Leak details the affordable Asus ROG Phone 9 series smartphone ahead of official announcement
The Asus ROG Phone 9 series currently has two gaming smartphones: one standard and a Pro. However, per recent reports, there will be a third, and it will have "FE" in its name. For its name, this rumored device is expected to be an affordable entry to the lineup.
Now, while Asus has yet to confirm the existence of the device, it has already been certified in multiple countries. As for its specs, a new leak has shed light on it, and it has also shared the alleged images of the rumored ROG Phone 9 FE. Per the leak, the smartphone won't be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite like the other devices in the series.
Instead, the leak claims that the ROG Phone 9 FE will pack the last-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This would make the smartphone offer the same level of performance as the ROG Phone 8. The leak further shares that the SoC will be paired with 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage and 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM.
As for the camera setup, the ROG Phone 9 FE will reportedly feature a 50MP primary sensor, which will be paired with a 13MP ultrawide and 5MP macro. The leak shares that the front will sport a 32MP selfie shooter. So, the camera setup could stay the same as the ROG Phone 8.
On the note of the front, the leak claims that the ROG Phone 9 FE will feature a 6.78-inch FHD+ screen with a 165Hz refresh rate. This panel is said to reach 185Hz in Game Genie, sport a 2,500nits peak brightness rating, and feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
Regarding the design, the leaked images show a smartphone resembling the ROG Phone 8 Pro. It will reportedly weigh 225 grams and measure 8.9mm thick. Like the other ROG-branded phones, it's expected to have gaming-centric AirTrigger controls as well (16/512 GB RedMagic 10 Pro curr. $899 on Amazon).
