Honor has finally released its new set of devices in China. The phones, the Honor 50 SE, Honor 50, and Honor 50 Pro offer powerful sub-premium chipsets as well 108 MP main cameras, at a starting price point under the equivalent of US$400. They'll also make the trip over to Europe in the near future.

After months of teasers and leaks, Honor has finally debuted its new batch of devices. The company finally lifted the covers off the Honor 50 series, setting three devices, the Honor 50 SE, Honor 50, and Honor 50 Pro, to flight.

The Honor 50 SE is the entry point to the lineup. It sports a 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD. That "SE" badge means nothing for size in this case. Under the hood is the new MediaTek Dimensity 900, aided by 8 GB of RAM standard, and up to 256 GB of storage. Supplying juice is a 4000 mAh battery with 66 W fast charging. At the rear of the phone is a triple camera setup comprised of a 108 MP main shooter, an 8 MP ultra-wide, and a 2 MP macro shooter. Housed within a hole punch at the front is a 16 MP selfie camera.

The Honor 50 is the middle child of the series. It's smaller than the Honor 50 SE, however, as it delivers a 6.57-inch display. Unlike its cheaper sibling, however, the display is an OLED panel, although also FHD+ and 120 Hz. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 778G, supported by up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Battery is an upgrade over the Honor 50 SE, clocking in at 4300 mAh. 66 W charging is also present. The Honor 50 keeps the same 108 MP and 8 MP sensors on the Honor 50 SE but adds an extra 2 MP sensor for a total of four rear cameras. At the front is a 32 MP camera.

The Honor 50 Pro leads the lineup with a 6.72-inch FHD+ 120 Hz OLED, a Snapdragon 778G, and four rear cameras (108+8+2+2 MP) like on the Honor 50. At the front, though, the 32 MP camera is joined by a 100-degree-wide 12 MP shooter. The battery here is smaller than on the Honor 50 for some reason, however, at 4000 mAh. Charging is faster, though, with peak charging wattage at a listed 100 W.

All three phones offer NFC and ship with Honor's Magic UI 4.2 overlayed on Android 11.

Pricing:

  • Honor 50 SE 8/128 GB: CNY 2,399 (US$375)
  • Honor 50 SE 8/256 GB: CNY 2,699 (US$420)
