MWC 2024 | Honor Magic6 Pro makes global debut with 180 MP periscope camera, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and more
Honor got a lot of attention with the launch of the Magic6 Pro, and most of it has to do with the “Star Wheel Triple Camera” configuration on the back. Now, the same Android flagship has made its debut for the global markets at the MWC 2024 event.
Getting back to the main highlights of the phone, its camera setup consists of a 50 MP primary sensor with adjustable aperture and OIS. It’s paired with another 50 MP sensor, which is an ultra-wide camera with 122-degree FOV. But the main star of the show is the 180 MP periscope sensor, a first in the industry. This telephoto camera of Magic6 Pro is capable of offering 2.5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom.
On the front, Honor packed the Magic6 Pro with a 50 MP selfie camera that’s accompanied by a 3D ToF sensor. These two are housed inside a pill-shaped cutout in the display, and thanks to the ToF sensor, the smartphone can offer secure 3D face recognition, similar to Face ID on the iPhone.
Speaking of the display, Honor claims that the Magic6 Pro has the industry’s most drop-resistant glass to date. While we don’t have a head-to-head comparison with the Gorilla Glass Armor of Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (available on Amazon) yet, Honor’s latest flagship does have a “Five Star Overall Glass Drop Resistance Ability” certification from SGS.
Under the hood, the Honor Magic6 Pro packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which brings better performance and efficiency. It also makes the smartphone powerful enough to run Meta’s open-source LLaMA, offering AI-enhanced features.
Other notable aspects of the smartphone include a 5600 mAh battery with 80W fast charging, a stereo speaker system with DTS:X Ultra, and a discrete security chipset. You can learn more about the Magic6 Pro from the complete spec sheet attached below.
