Helio G90T-powered Redmi Note 8 Pro benchmarks are displayed prior to launch
Redmi has announced that its upcoming Note 8 Pro will rock the new, gaming-focused MediaTek Helio G90T SoC. The company asserts that this processor is more powerful than the comparable Snapdragon 710, albeit not the Kirin 810. The Note 8 Pro's AnTuTu scores appear to bear this out.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro is now set for launch later in August 2019. It will be released alongside a non-Pro variant, as well as the brand's first TV. Its maker has decided to disclose some more important details about this phone, as if to build hype ahead of this event.
Key Redmi executives Lin Bin and Lu Weibing has been on their official Weibo channels to reveal these Note 8 Pro talking points. Between them, they have confirmed that the phone will be powered by the freshly-launched MediaTek Helio G90T. This processor has been advertised as more game-focused, with the GPU tweaks necessary to deliver relevant performance.
Lin Bin has also posted the phone's first known AnTuTu score: a total of 281033. This matches well with some sample benchmark scores for the Helio G90T, in comparison with its probable closest competitors, the Kirin 810 and Snapdragon 710. It seems the chipset will be powered by a 4500mAh battery in the Note 8 Pro. Finally, Redmi has indicated that this new device will have a compatible Black Shark-esque game controller.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
