Garmin has released a trio of new MARQ 2 smartwatches. All sold under the MARQ Carbon Collection, the smartwatches feature a 'unique Fused Carbon Fiber build' with a higher price tag to match.

Garmin has expanded another of its smartwatch series, less than a month after releasing the Tactix 7 AMOLED. Incidentally, just over four months have passed since Garmin introduced Pro versions of the Fenix 7 series, including Solar and Sapphire Solar Editions. Now, the company has presented the MARQ Carbon Collection, which it describes as 'all-new modern tool watches'.

In a press release, Garmin states that the collection features a 'unique Fused Carbon Fiber build' that has been 'decades in the making'. Purportedly, this build consists of 130 carbon fibre layers, each of which Garmin rotates during its manufacturing process to maintain the housing's tensile strength. Garmin adds that it then uses a diamond cutter to give all MARQ Carbon Collection units a spiral pattern.

Setting the rhetoric aside, the MARQ Carbon Collection share their hardware with the regular MARQ 2 series that Garmin released a year ago. In other words, the company's new smartwatches have 46 mm case sizes, within which sit 1.2-inch AMOLED displays operating at 390 x 390 pixels. Moreover, the MARQ Carbon Collection is rated for up to 6 days of battery life in smartwatch mode or 21 days with battery saver mode enabled.

The MARQ Carbon Collection starts at US$2,950 for the Athlete edition. Alternatively, Garmin sells the Golfer and Commander versions for US$3,100 and US$3,200, respectively. As far we can tell, all MARQ Carbon Collection feature the same overall hardware but have different designs. Please see Garmin's website for more details.
