GPD has shared new details about the global launch for its next gaming handheld. Revealed months ago as the Win 5, technical specifications were outlined by The Phawx in late July. Given that GPD has teased the Win 5 numerous times since then, we have embedded a collated image below of what hardware to expect from the Win 5 and how it differs from the existing Win 4 (curr. $1,489.99 on Amazon).
Now, GPD has clarified that it will offer at least three Win 5 configurations globally. Writing on X, the company has confirmed that its next gaming handheld will start with a Ryzen AI Max 385 APU, 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Alternatively, the gaming handheld will be configurable with a Ryzen AI Max+ 395, which features twice as many CPU cores as the Ryzen AI Max 385. Please see our comparison page for a full look at how these APUs differ.
Meanwhile, the Radeon 8060S iGPU inside the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 should deliver a noticeable performance boost over the Radeon 8050S that AMD integrates within the Ryzen AI Max 385. Unfortunately, GPD is unsure whether timings will allow it to offer the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 128 GB RAM through Indiegogo.
Instead, the company has committed to offering the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 32 GB or 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB or 4 TB of storage. Currently, GPD appears set on introducing the Win 5 later this month on Indiegogo. To that end, GPD has already published the device's Indiegogo campaign page in its preview state. Unfortunately, full pricing and availability still remain at this stage.
