Recently, leaks have emerged hinting at a Forza Horizon 6 location in Japan. Many fans crave open-world driving in a country with a rich automotive history. Now, Windows Central has learned that Microsoft could announce the racing game at the Tokyo Game Show. Insider NateTheHate2 later confirmed the report on social media.
Windows Central claims to have seen official documents detailing Xbox events at the convention. A list of exhibitors includes Microsoft, with the company likely to host an online showcase. Following a record-breaking Gamescom 2025, the Tokyo Game Show 2025, which runs from September 25 to 28, also looks massive.
Phil Spencer already suggested that a new Forza racing game in 2026 would commemorate Xbox’s 25th anniversary. Still, Playground Games has its hands full with a Fable project. Nevertheless, the Forza Horizon 6 release date may arrive before some gamers had anticipated.
Adding more credibility to the Windows Central news, a Forza Horizon developer recently visited an Australian dealership. He was seen scanning a rare JDM car, which could appear in the next entry in the series.
Microsoft has struggled to establish a foothold in the Japanese gaming market. Even so, Forza Horizon 6 wouldn’t be the first Xbox game unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show. After acquiring Activision Blizzard in 2023, it revealed that Starcraft would come to Game Pass during the 2024 showcase. A Japan Forza Horizon 6 location would obviously make the show an appropriate place for an announcement.
Racing fans may wonder if the next Forza game will launch simultaneously on Xbox and PS5 consoles. In this new multi-platform reality, Doom: The Dark Ages shipped as a day-one title on both systems. Considering the swift sales of Forza Horizon 5 on the PS5, Microsoft may opt to skip any period of exclusivity. Also, with Gran Turismo 7 focused on track racing, Sony likely doesn’t see the Horizon franchise as a direct threat.
