Days Gone PC minimum and recommended specs: Former PS4 exclusive requires surprisingly modest PC hardware
Sony recently announced that a raft of former PlayStation exclusives will be making their way over to PC, following the success of both Death Stranding and Horizon: Zero Dawn. First up is Days Gone, a post-apocalyptic adventure that didn't exactly get stellar reviews on launch day.
Whether or not Days Gone is a good game to play, the system requirements Sony recently revealed indicate that PC gamers will only need modest setups to run it at playable framerates. The min spec for Days Gone calls for a GeForce GTX 780 or Radeon R9 290, along with a Sandy Bridge i5 or the AMD FX-6300. The i5-2500K is legendary, but it's still remarkable to see a decade-old processor listed as the minimum requirement for a PC game in 2021. As far as recommended specs are concerned, we're looking at either a GeForce GTX 1060 or the Radeon RX 580.
It's interesting to note that there isn't a massive performance difference between any of the cards listed here (barring, perhaps the GeForce GTX 780). However, it's notable that these are the exact CPUs and GPUs Guerilla recommended for Horizon: Zero Dawn.
While that game runs reasonably well now, after extensive post-launch patching, it's still intensive at the high end: you'll need a GeForce RTX 3080 to consistently hit 60 FPS. Since they're both PlayStation 4 exclusives, we expect Days Gone to have a similar performance profile - it should run reasonably on a wide range of hardware. Whether it's worth getting is, however, an entirely different question.
