A new laser projector has launched its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Backers should be aware of the usual risks, but the Black Warrior Cinematic 4K RGB 3D GTV & KTV laser projector can now be purchased with substantial discounts in relation to the eventual official list price.
To be more precise, the 4K projector currently starts at just $899, which is a generous 55% off the planned MSRP of $1,999. Higher savings are available for backers who reserve more than just one unit. The Black Warrior is expected to start shipping in May 2025. The Kickstarter campaign runs for another 30 days and has already raised $130,000 at the time of writing.
4K laser projector for up to 300 inches
The Black Warrior is a portable laser projector that offers numerous features. It is powered by an Amlogic S905Y4 QuadA35 processor and a 0.47-inch DLP chip from Texas Instruments. The projector delivers a 4K image via pixel shift and a screen size of up to 300 inches at a 1.2:1 throw ratio.
The Osram RGB laser further offers a brightness of 3,000 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio 15,000:1. This should result in a bright and vivid image that is automatically optimized via autofocus and auto-keystone correction.
According to the manufacturer, the Black Warrior laser projector support 3D playback in two different modes. So-called "Naked-eye 3D" is supposed to offer a three-dimensional viewing experience completely without glasses, but there is a second mode for regular 3D with glasses.
Two 10-watt speakers are built-in. In terms of connectivity, the 4K laser projector offers HDMI 2.0, USB 2.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, S/PDIF as well as Ethernet, WiFi ac and Bluetooth 5. Last but not least the Black Warrior can be controlled via voice and supports Google Chromecast.
