Under a week has passed since Beelink unveiled its Mate mini dock for Apple's latest Mac mini (curr. $488 on Amazon). Initially, the company revealed that it had created two variants that it simply called 'Model A' and 'Model B'. Shortly afterwards, it announced how much its new accessories would cost, but only in China.
Now, it has opened pre-orders for both variants globally, with some launch discounts thrown in for good measure. At the time of writing, Beelink offers its new Mate mini docks at the following price points:
Mate mini Model A
- No SSD - $139 ($169 MSRP)
- 2 TB combined storage (2x 1 TB SSDs) - $279 ($339 MSRP)
- 4 TB combined storage (2x 2 TB SSDs) - $459 ($599 MSRP)
- 8 TB combined storage (2x 4 TB SSDs) - $779 ($989 MSRP)
Mate mini Model B
- No SSD - $139 ($169 MSRP)
- 2 TB SSD - $279 ($339 MSRP)
- 4 TB SSD - $459 ($599 MSRP
Seemingly, the main distinguishing factor is their M.2 slots, which can only reach PCIe 5.0 x2 in Model A and PCIe 5.0 x4 in Model B. As far as we can tell, both models feature a single Thunderbolt 5 port unlike many of their peers. On top of that, the two docking solutions contain microSD card readers, a 3.5 mm jack, two USB Type-A ports and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet within a 127 x 127 x 16 mm housing that weighs 250 g.
Unfortunately, Beelink does not provide any indications about the drives it is using nor the warranty that it will provide for them. Thus, we would recommend supplying your own SSD where possible. Currently, the company has not confirmed when it will start shipping pre-orders either. Please see Beelink's website for more information.
