Asus already has the ROG Strix XG32UCG waiting in the wings. Nonetheless, the company has decided to expand its 32-inch gaming monitor product line with the similarly-named ROG Strix XG32UCWG. Incidentally, the XG32UCWG has been joined by the ROG Strix XG32UCWMG, full details of which we have covered separately.
As for the ROG Strix XG32UCWG, it is an early example of Asus' latest attempt to bring a true glossy finish to the OLED monitor market. While OLED TVs have glossy coatings, LG and Samsung have tended to provide matte or 'semi-glossy' coatings on their gaming monitor panels, as with last year's ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM (curr. $979.99 on Amazon). According to Asus, its new 'TrueBlack Glossy' coating is said to deliver a 'zero-haze' experience that even previous 'glossy' WOLED options like the ROG Strix XG27AQDMG.
To complement this TrueBlack Glossy film, Asus has installed a WOLED panel that operates natively at 4K and 240 Hz. Leveraging LG's Dual Mode technology, the monitor can also switch to a 1080p mode that doubles its refresh rate to 480 Hz as needed. Although Asus has not confirmed pricing or availability yet, it has revealed that the ROG Strix XG32UCWG peaks at 1,300 nits with 0.03 ms GtG response times and the following ports:
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 2x HDMI 2.1
- 2x USB Type-A
- 1x USB Type-C (15 W PD/DisplayPort Alt Mode)
