Asus offers a range of compact PC systems under the NUC name. Recently, we published a review of the Asus NUC 14 Essential with an Intel Core i3-N305. With the lineup’s launch on the horizon, the company has issued a press release detailing the individual configurations. Specifically, the NUC 14 Essential will be available with either an Intel N150, N250, N97, or Core i3-N305 (like our review unit) and can be purchased as a full computer or a kit, which doesn’t come with any memory installed. The system supports a single stick of DDR5 RAM with up to 16 GB in capacity.
Measuring 135 x 115 x 36 mm (5.3 x 4.5 x 1.4 in), the mini-PC can be useful for a range of applications, depending on the selected configuration. Whilst they aren’t high-end systems, the NUC 14 Essential models might be well suited to less demanding tasks, such as office work or digital signage.
The NUC 14 Essential features an HDMI 2.1 interface, a DisplayPort 1.4, and a rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port capable of outputting video signals. By contrast, the front USB-C port appears to lack this capability. The mini-PC also boasts several USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and offers Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity. In Germany, prices for the Asus NUC 14 Essential start at €260 (US$268) for the model with an Intel N250 and €226 (US$233) for the variant with an Intel N97. You can check with your local retailers for pricing in your region.
