Apple iPad Pro 2022 rumours emerge with talk of a 14.1-inch and Apple M2 powered version
It has been over a year since Apple refreshed the iPad Pro, with the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models now on their 3rd and 5th generations, respectively. Unsurprisingly, rumours for next-generation iPad Pro models have started, but not for just about new 11-inch or 12-inch models. Instead, leakers have begun offering details about a 14.1-inch version, as well as some information concerning 4th generation 11-inch and 6th generation 12.9-inch iPad Pros.
Supposedly, this year's iPad Pro refresh will rely on the Apple M2, a chipset that Apple announced earlier this week with the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13. For reference, Apple claims that the M2 has an 18% faster CPU than the M1, along with 35% improved GPU performance, 50% more memory bandwidth and a 40% faster neural engine. According to @MajinBuOfficial, Apple will offer the M2 in an 11-inch model 'with no changes', plus a 12.9-inch edition that has slimmer bezels than the current 5th generation tablet.
Allegedly, Apple could offer the iPad Pro 14.1 in 512 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB configurations, which would exceed the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13. Additionally, @MajinBuOfficial tips Apple to equip the iPad Pro 14.1 with up to 32 GB of RAM. Presumably, any iPad Pro with Apple M2 will match the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13 in this regard, which feature 8 GB, 16 GB or 24 GB of RAM instead. Theoretically, a 14.1-inch iPad Pro would challenge the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, which has a 14.6-inch panel operating at 120 Hz and 1,848 x 2,960 pixels. An even larger iPad Pro would further blur the lines between the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro range though, so we would recommend exercising some caution with these rumours for the time being.
