The RX 7800 XT and the RX 7700 XT supply at launch could be plentiful if the newest report from Moore’s Law Is Dead is accurate. The leaker alleges that AMD has been stockpiling Navi 32 dies and is only waiting for the “RDNA 2 supply to sell through before being released”. Additionally, it appears that NVIDIA will decrease the channel pricing of the RTX 4060 Ti to make the GPU more competitive vs the new Radeon boards.

After months of leaks and speculation, AMD finally announced the RX 7800 XT and the RX 7700 XT a few days ago at Gamescom 2023 alongside information related to FSR 3. Both cards are based on the Navi 32 RDNA 3 GPU. The RX 7800 XT is the full implementation of the Navi 32, as it packs 60 Compute Units (CU), 16 GB of VRAM, and costs US$499. The RX 7700 XT, on the other hand, features a cut-down Navi 32 die with 54 CU, 12 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, and an MSRP of US$449.

As it turns out, you may be able to buy the RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT without worrying about supply shortages according to Tom of Moore’s Law Is Dead. The leaker reports that, per one of his AMD sources, Team Red has “stockpiled N32 for months now”. The company is reportedly waiting for RX 6000 inventory to dry before releasing the new boards which will be readily available to consumers.

A major retail source mentions that AIB partners are “indicating that there will be a ton of N32 supply at launch”. The source suggests that both the AIBs and the retailer are excited about this launch since, as far as the retailer is concerned, the “last few GPU launches have sucked and we need a seller”.

Moving on, the RX 7700 XT and the RX 7800 XT seem to have an equal proportion of supply according to one MLID source. The source also reports that AMD pricing the RX 7700 XT only US$50 below the RX 7800 XT “isn’t about making the RX 7800 XT look good”.

Adding to the leak about a potential RTX 4060 Ti price drop that we reported about last week, an NVIDIA source claimed that the company “is going to adjust channel pricing low enough” to allow AIB partners to price the RTX 4060 Ti from US$445-US$470. The source maintains that the price adjustment should be enough to “keep competitiveness in the midrange” because people paid US$500+ for the RTX 3060 12 GB instead of choosing the considerably more powerful RX 6700 XT.

All in all, it appears that the mid-range segment is going to heat up in the coming days with plenty of Navi 32 supply and reduced prices for the RTX 4060 Ti. If true, this is great news for consumers who have been left with a sour taste in their mouths due to subsequent bad GPU launches.
