The Xiaomi Mi A2 received the Android Pie beta last month and got the stable update just about a week later. The last-gen Mi A1 has now received its Pie beta, and there's a chance it gets the final, stable update before the year runs out.

Xiaomi released the Mi A1 over a year ago, effectively sparking the renaissance of Google’s Android One program. The A1, since joined by the Mi A2 and A2 Lite in the brief list of Xiaomi phones not running on the company’s MIUI, has received all the major Android updates, as befitting of its status as an Android One phone. The last-gen mid-range phone is now set to get Android Pie, and users are reporting receipt of the Pie beta update.

The update weighs in at a 1.1 GB download, about par with most Pie updates, which is no surprise since most devices that have received Pie are running either or stock Android or on a skin very close to stock Android. The update also brings all the Pie-specific changes.

Initial rumors claimed the A1 would receive Pie in Q1 2019 but there’s a chance it gets the stable update before the month runs out, especially considering the Mi A2 got its stable Pie update just a week after the beta. Hopefully, this release goes better than the Oreo rollout last year that had to be canceled due to numerous bugs and issues.
