Nintendo Switch: Evidence of Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance emulation leaks for Nintendo Switch Online service
Over the years, Nintendo has made older games playable on its latest consoles, most recently with its Online Expansion Pack for Nintendo Switch Online. While the Online Expansion Pack allows Switch Online subscribers to play N64 and SEGA Mega Drive titles, it seems that Nintendo has developed a Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance emulator for its current handheld console.
According to Kotaku, the emulator only runs on a Nintendo Switch developer kit, at least for now. For reference, Nintendo Life reported in September 2021 that Nintendo would expand Switch Online to include Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. Presumably, this week's leak means that Nintendo is close to announcing something.
Not only has evidence of Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance emulation leaked, @Mondo_Mega has shared a list of potential titles that will be available. Apparently, Nintendo has tested these games for compatibility, although they stress that not all games will launch on Nintendo Switch Online. Still, titles like The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Pokémon Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire appear to be nailed on.
