Meizu is expected to make a comeback in the Chinese Android flagship smartphone market in 2023, possibly with the unique selling point of first-party integration with cars such as Geely's Zeekr1. Now, a new patent reportedly filed by the company may point to its iPhone-esque design, albeit with a very different camera hump.

Meizu has reportedly filed a patent for a new smartphone design. Then again, the IP frankly bears a strong resemblance to a RedMagic 8 Pro, just without the 3.5mm jack or under-display selfie camera. Instead, there is a conventional central punch-hole set in a flat display.

The Meizu patent also claims a design for individual rear camera rings, in a vertical line running down from 1 corner. There are 4 of them, although 1 is said to be for a ring flash rather than a lens.

This new leak, in combination with a purported official poster from the brand, has driven speculation that they reveal the Meizu 20's looks ahead of launch.

The 20 is expected to do so as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered smartphone that may also debut Flyme Auto in the Chinese market. The software solution may be the equivalent of Meizu's Android skin for Geely's latest vehicles, now that the car-maker owns the mobile device OEM.

According to the latest leaks, drivers who might be tempted to buy a 20-series device for the enhanced integration (and the fact one can apparently be bought right at the marque's showroom) could be inclined to buy a new device with 80W charging for its 4,700mAh battery.

Then again, Meizu has yet to confirm or deny any of these rumors with a formal launch, even though it has been said to schedule one to coincide with Lunar New Year celebrations.
