Meizu "20 and 20 Pro" tipped to launch following OEM's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 uptake announcement
Not much has been heard from Meizu as a smartphone company following its acquisition by the electric vehicle OEM Geely - in fact, there were reports that the car-maker might convert its new subsidiary's floor-space into new automotive showrooms going forward.
However, there are now signs that Meizu is back in the hardware game, courtesy of the brand itself. It has confirmed that it has a "new flagship" with "the blessing of second-gen Snapdragon 8 historical hardware performance" (according to Google Translate, at least). This, then, suggests a successor to the 18s of 2021.
In fact, according to new code allegedly dug up by PriceBaba, there are 2 of them. The Meizu "M381Q" and "M391Q" are apparently set to skip 19 and move on to become the "20" and "20 Pro" respectively in late 2022 or early 2023.
The 20 Pro is also now tipped to launch in SKUs with 8 to 12GB of RAM and 256 to 512GB of internal storage and to come in "at least 3" color options.
