iPhone Air 2 rumored to get bigger battery

A new leak points to a slightly larger battery for the iPhone Air 2. According to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, the Air 2 will ship with a cell above 3,500mAh, up from the 3,149mAh battery in the current iPhone Air.
The same leak points to a 6.55-inch LTPO OLED display with ProMotion support, a dual 48MP rear camera setup, and Apple's next A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process. The chip details rule out earlier leaks suggesting Apple would use a lower-tier processor to cut costs.
A larger battery alone will not be the only factor behind any improvement in battery life. The 2nm A20 Pro is expected to be more power efficient than the current A19 Pro, and iOS 27 is said to include a revised CPU scheduler that puts less strain on the system. Apple is also expected to move to its in-house C2 5G modem, following the C1X used in the current iPhone Air, which should offer stronger signal transmission while using less power.
Separately, YouTuber John Prosser recently published render images, color options, and specifications for the iPhone Air 2 based on his own sourcing. His video shows the phone with two rear cameras, matching an earlier report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, and describes a case that stays at 5.6mm thick despite the larger battery, added camera, and new chip.
Prosser said the phone will keep its titanium alloy body, unlike the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which are expected to move to a different material. He also pointed to a smaller Face ID camera that would shrink the Dynamic Island to make room for the second rear lens and said Apple is planning a new Lavender color option, replacing the current Sky Blue, alongside Space Black, Cloud White and Light Gold.
Prosser's video also raised the possibility that Apple could eventually replace its standard iPhone lineup with a thinner design based on the iPhone Air, leaving the Pro and a foldable iPhone Ultra as the only other models. He said that shift would not happen before 2028 at the earliest and stressed that it remains speculative.
The iPhone Air 2 is expected to launch in early 2027 alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e. Apple has not commented on any of the specifications mentioned in either report.
