The iPhone 13 Pro Max is slated to ship with a much larger battery compared to its predecessor, according to a new leak. It will allegedly feature a 4,325mAh cell, which is significantly higher than the 3,687mAh unit on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will both run 3,095mAh batteries.

iPhones have been long chided for their paltry battery backup. To make matters worse, Apple goes out of its way to obscure actual battery capacities behind marketing fluff and even neglects to list them on the official spec sheet. We now have our first look at what the iPhone 13 series could have in store for us in the battery department, thanks to a new leak by Weibo veteran Digital Chat Station.

The top-of-the-line iPhone 13 Pro Max will reportedly ship with a 4,325mAh battery. There is no information about its charging speed. Ideally, Apple will upgrade that, too; otherwise, one may end up tethered to their walls for hours trying to recharge an iPhone 13 Pro Max. If the information is accurate, an iPhone will finally offer comparable (or better) battery life than similarly-specced Samsung/OnePlus counterparts. However, the remaining iPhone 13 models could be a bit worse off.

It appears that both the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will ship with the same 3,095mAh cell. As expected, the putative iPhone 13 Mini will have the least battery capacity of the lot at 2,406mAh. Given the abysmal iPhone 12 Mini sales, it's hard to tell if Apple even plans on launching a Mini iPhone variant this time around.

We've been hearing about high-refresh-rate displays on iPhones for many years. The improved battery capacities tell us that the iPhone 13 series could ship with an LTPO screen that refreshes at 120Hz. While the iPhone 13 Pro Max should hold its own with 5G and 120Hz enabled at all times, the iPhone 13 Pro could have some difficulties. Its non-Pro sibling should be fine, for the most part, as it is expected to run a 60Hz panel.
