Shocking Apple iPhone Battery Service price hike of up to 40% incoming for March 2023
Apple has added a new sentence to the text on its iPhone Battery Service page that indicates a price hike is incoming. The company is planning on raising its service fee on March 1, 2023, with the current prices listed on the various country sites effective until the end of February 2023. Apple has chosen to increase the service fee for all models before the iPhone 14 range, which currently consists of the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 13 for the US site (other countries may differ).
The increase amounts to an extra US$20 for iPhone owners in the USA looking to replace their device’s battery. This means an iPhone 5s battery replacement will go from US$49 to US$69, an iPhone 11 battery change would go from US$69 to US$89, and an iPhone 13 Pro Max service would also go from US$69 to US$89. The four members of the iPhone 14 series would stay with a service fee of US$99. In the UK, the service fee price hike will be £20, whereas in Australia it will be AU$36.
In terms of percentages, the iPhone battery replacement service fee rise is pretty hefty. For instance, for an iPhone 13 Pro, the rise from US$69 to US$89 is around 29%, which is a considerable increase. It looks even worse for owners of older iPhones, from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 8, as the US$49 to US$69 change constitutes a price hike of over 40%. This latter situation is also applicable to all three generations of the Apple iPhone SE (US$49 to US$69).
