Zepp Health improves its products with software updates over time, and now it's the Helio's turn. The update is only 2.04 megabytes in size and carries version number 2.3.8.5. As usual, the update can be conveniently installed via the corresponding app, but users should make sure that their device is fully charged.
The changelog is relatively short and contains just four changes, some of which can have significant effects. There’s one catch-all bullet point, as the company asserts that various bugs have been fixed, but Zepp Health doesn’t provide any further details on these specific changes.
According to the changelog, the software update also includes an entirely overhauled algorithm that is used for monitoring sleep quality and duration, with a corresponding sleep score being displayed in the app. Some Reddit users have expressing rather skeptical opinions about this change.
For example, some have reported a significant decrease of their sleep score. In one case, the detected REM sleep dropped from an hour and a half to just 13 minutes. Such dramatic changes indicate that the new algorithm is not working properly just or, or that there have been some major issues with the previous one.
Either way, Zepp Health also announces improved heart rate measurements, which should result in more accurate pulse readings. Last but not least, there have been improvements to the user experience when the Amazfit Helio smart ring doesn’t have much battery charge left.
