The Ryzen 7 7840S limited to 30 W TDP is only 5% slower than a Ryzen 9 7940HS that can boost to 54 W. This variant is exclusive to Lenovo, and the Yoga Air 14s ultrabooks with 1 TB storage and 32 GB LPDDR5-6400 RAM are available for ~US$1,140 only in China for now.

Lenovo’s Yoga Air 14s 2023 ultrabook featuring a 30 W TDP Ryzen 7 7840S APU is now available in China and the guys over at MyDrivers just published a detailed review for it. Apparently, the R7 7840S processor is a variant exclusive to Lenovo and the Chinese market for now. Despite having 15 W lower TDP compared to the R9 7940HS models, the performance difference is negligible, making this variant ideal for thin and light devices.

According to CPU-Z, the R7 7840S is specced very similarly to its 45 W siblings, with the same 5.1 GHz maximum boost frequencies and 2.7 GHz for the Radeon 780M iGPU. From the tests conducted by MyDrivers, the R9 7940HS is only 5% faster. This is great for any kind of form-factor since the system remains cooler (max 75 C) and quieter, with a longer-lasting battery. This Yoga model in particular has a 70 Wh battery rated to last up to 14 h in light office apps.

MyDrivers also recommends the excellent 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen on the new Yoga 14s. It comes with a 2944×1840 resolution and peak brightness is one of the highest on any 14-incher to date, with max 600 nits and Dolby Vision / HDR500 certification. There is also 60/90 Hz variable refresh rate to save battery life and DCI-P3 color gamut is 100%. Other outstanding features include a port selection with 2x USB4 ports, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 and audio jack. Total system weight is 1.28 kg with full aluminum chassis in Mercury Silver / Sunlight Reflection colors and profile is 1.39 cm.

All Yoga Air 14s models come standard with 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD storage, whereas the price differentiation comes through the RAM capacity options. The 16 GB LPDDR5-6400 variant costs ~$1,100, while the 32 GB one is priced at US$1,140. There is also a Ryzen 5 7640S APU option with unknown price.
