Xiaomi releases the May 2021 security patch to the Mi A2 Lite, its first update in three months
It seemed Xiaomi had forgotten the Mi A2 Lite, one of the few Android One devices that the company between 2017 and 2019. The Mi A2 Lite arrived in July 2018 with Xiaomi promising three years of security patch updates and two major OS upgrades, typically delivered within two years. While that three-year window is set to expire in two months, the lack of updates from February onwards implied that Xiaomi had already given up on the Snapdragon 625-powered device.
V11.0.19.0.QDLMIXM has now started rolling out to handsets though, the direct successor to February's V11.0.18.0.QDLMIXM. The Mi A2 Lite's latest update contains the May 2021 security patch, although it is unclear if Xiaomi has included the May 1 or May 5 patch. Nonetheless, the Mi A2 Lite's latest update addresses numerous high or critical CVEs, the list of which you can read here.
Xiaomi is rolling out V11.0.19.0.QDLMIXM as an over-the-air (OTA) download. Alternatively, you could download the 25 MB file from Xiaomi's servers and install it manually. Additionally, you could download the fastboot or recovery ROM zip files, should you wish to start afresh. You can download all update files from Xiaomi Firmware Updater, which links files hosted on Xiaomi's servers.
