Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 17 5G with 8,000mAh battery in India

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 17 5G in India. One of the key highlights of the smartphone is its large 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which supports 45W fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging.
It features a 6.9-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,396 x 1,080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. For context, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is an octa-core chipset built on a 4nm process and features an Adreno 613 GPU.
The device comes with a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP front camera. Both cameras can record 1080p video at 30fps, but neither supports 4K video recording. The new Redmi phone supports dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and 5G connectivity. The Indian variant of the Redmi Note 17 5G does not support NFC, which is available on its Chinese counterpart.
The Redmi Note 17 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 out of the box. Other specifications include an optical fingerprint scanner, an IR blaster, and dual speakers.
With these specifications, the Redmi Note 17 5G represents several downgrades from the previous-generation Redmi Note 15 5G. For comparison, the Note 15 5G has a 108MP rear camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 20MP front camera. The rear camera supports 4K video recording at 30fps. Moreover, it is powered by the faster Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset with an Adreno 710 GPU.
