Xiaomi is getting ready to fully unveil its new Leica camera flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Through teasers, the company has recently showcased the design of this upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphone, and now, it has detailed the primary camera and the periscope telephoto of the device.
The latest round of teasers shares that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will come with a "Leica Ultra-Pure Optical System." Per the company, this imaging system aims to offer enhanced clarity and better light capture. Speaking of which, this upcoming Leica flagship is codenamed "Night God," which emphasizes the smartphone's focus on night photography.
As for the camera setup of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, it will feature a new 1-inch primary sensor. It will be paired with a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera. The company has confirmed that the latter has a 1/1.4-inch sensor and f/2.6 aperture. While there's no official confirmation yet, recent reports suggest that it's the Samsung HP9 sensor.
Past reports have also suggested that the periscope telephoto will offer lossless zoom levels ranging from 0.6x to 17.3x. As for the other two rear cameras, one is said to be a 50 MP ultrawide with f/2.2 aperture, while the other one is reportedly a 50 MP telephoto with f/1.8 aperture with support for telephoto macro mode. Through another teaser, Xiaomi shared that the rear camera setup is covered with "Leica super low-reflection lens glass" with a reflectivity "as low as 1.5%." This should result in relatively low lens glare in night photos.
There's no official word on the price yet, but the Xiaomi 15 Ultra with 512 GB of storage is expected to launch at €1,099 in Europe. It will reportedly be bundled with the Watch S4 during the pre-order phase.
