Xiaomi Redmi 9 should get MIUI 12 global ROM update in November at the latest
The Redmi 9 has almost an interesting MIUI 12-related epic story as the Pocophone F1 or Redmi Note 8/8T. While issues with the much-wanted Android-based skin still plague those latter devices from Xiaomi, it at least appears that the Redmi 9 global model will soon pack the MIUI 12 overlay.
According to the General Manager of Xiaomi Indonesia, Alvin Tse, although there have been some hitches with the Redmi 9 MIUI 12 rollout, as long as testing goes well then owners can expect to see the update appearing on their smartphone “hopefully this month but if not then Nov”.
The MIUI 12 rollout for the Chinese model of the Redmi 9 clearly had some problems, as the software was replaced by a new MIUI 11 rollout before another Chinese MIUI 12 ROM, 12.0.1.0.QJCCNXM, was pushed out to users. However, this meant global users had to wait longer while things were ironed out in China.
There is a suspension in the overall MIUI 12 rollout process due to national holidays in China, which is why Tse might be offering caution in his comment. But Redmi 9 owners worldwide should keep an eye out for the MIUI 12 update notification anytime towards the end of October and onwards.
