Our review of the Redmi 9 reveals that it offers a very good price-to-performance ratio. No other entry-level smartphone offers such a wide assortment of features as the Redmi 9. Unlike its predecessor, the Redmi 8, which we reviewed at the beginning of the year, the Redmi 9 has a 6.53-inch LCD screen with a native resolution of 2340x1080. There are no other smartphones in the sub-150-Euro (~$177) price segment, which offer a 1080p display. The Xiaomi smartphone also features Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and Dual SIM functionality. Moreover, despite such a low price, there is an NFC chip onboard. This is why buyers will be able to make contactless payments with the Redmi 9 via Google Pay. Thanks to Wi-Fi Calling, users can make phone calls over Wi-Fi networks in areas with poor cellular reception and Dual SIM VoLTE functionality allows the user to make calls over LTE networks with the SIM card of their choice.
The rest of the package is also quite good. The Redmi 9 features a quad-camera system, Widevine L1 DRM, Miracast, facial recognition, 3.5-mm headphone jack, 18-watt fast charging, FM radio tuner and an IR blaster. Moreover, the USB-C port supports USB OTG.
