The Xiaomi Pad 8 impressed us in our in-depth review thanks to its comparatively low price and very high performance, strong features and a premium chassis with a metal unibody. That’s also reflected in our conclusion, as the Xiaomi Pad 8 basically makes more expensive tablets redundant.
There is only one problem, namely that the Android tablet is currently only available via import from China. This also means that Android Auto and some other features are not supported. Since previous models were also released in Europe, we expect that a global variant of the tablet will be announced soon.
What’s included with the Xiaomi Pad 8?
Prior to our detailed review of the Xiaomi Pad 8, there was the exciting moment when we opened the white box and saw the tablet for the first time. It’s wrapped in a protective cover made of paper, which is a welcome choice from a sustainability standpoint.
The accessories
Inside the box, underneath the tablet itself, there is a small compartment that contains the power adapter. In the case of our imported device, the charger is designed for Chinese outlets. It works flawlessly with a simple adapter, which many import sellers include with the purchase.
The Xiaomi Pad 7 also shipped with an EU charger, so the same should be expected of the EU version of the Xiaomi Pad 8. Either way, a USB charging cable and a quick start guide are also included.
Why is the Xiaomi Pad 8 so good?
The great thing about the Xiaomi Pad 8 is that it has almost no significant weaknesses and offers features that are typically found in much more expensive tablets. At our partner TradingShenzhen, the Xiaomi Pad 8 currently retails for €337.
That being said, we did find a few drawbacks. For example, there is no 5G-capable version of the tablet, and GPS is also missing. Furthermore, there is no fingerprint sensor or IP rating.
Nonetheless, the Xiaomi Pad 8 is an excellent device for little money, even as an import. For more details, check out our full review.
