A couple of rare Xiaomi smartphones are currently being offered for sale: a Xiaomi Mi 6 Mercury Silver Edition and a Xiaomi Mi 7 prototype sample. The special variant of the Mi 6 can be purchased for 19,999 yuan (US$2,831) but you will need to have very deep pockets if you want to get your hands on the extremely rare Xiaomi Mi 7 device.
Update: Xiaomishka believes the so-called Mi 7 is a disguised Mi 8.

Update May 3: Tipster Xiaomishka believes the "Mi 7 prototype" might actually be a Mi 8 disguised to look like a rarer smartphone and is part of a hoax post.

Original story:

Xiaomi has been busy flooding the smartphone world with numerous devices lately and there are many more to come in the near future. However, a couple of interesting Xiaomi products have now made some waves thanks to their relative rarity and sudden availability, and if you have the funds you could add some serious bragging rights to your collection of smartphones from this popular Chinese OEM.

First up is an appearance of a Xiaomi Mi 6 Mercury Silver Edition on a Chinese website that has the device listed for sale at 19,999 yuan (US$2,831). Xiaomi claimed only 100 of these mirror-like smartphones were produced, and they were originally set with a price tag of 3,999 yuan (US$566). The Mercury Silver variant had the same specifications as the regular Xiaomi Mi 6, but it came coated with a highly reflective glass back.

The Chinese site Xianyu has a listing for the Xiaomi Mi 7 prototype, which is apparently being auctioned off with an optimistic price tag of 1,000,200 yuan (US$141,627). There are images of the unreleased smartphone accompanying the post, but it seems difficult to believe anyone would really pay that much for a Mi 7 engineering sample. According to the details, the 6.02-inch Xiaomi Mi 7 had a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 6 GB RAM, and an OLED screen. Xiaomi went straight from the Mi 6 to the Xiaomi Mi 8 to mark the company’s eighth anniversary.
