The Mi 6 is Xiaomi's flagship, so it comes as no surprise that the device gets the new OS update first.

Xiaomi's upcoming MIUI 9 update is set to hit users of the OEM's flagship first, according to rumors on the official Xiaomi forum.

Xiaomi has quite the impressive lineup of devices on the pipeline, with rumors of the new Redmi Note 5 and 5A, the upcoming X1, and the new product line taking up most of the headlines. Fans of the OEM look forward to something on the softer side of things, though, as the next version of Xiaomi's skin, MIUI, looks set to hit devices around the world.

MIUI gets a lot of hate—probably due to its colorful outlook, inefficient notifications management, and a host of other minor issues—but it still ranks amongst the most used Android skins in the world, and it's no surprise that users are looking forward to the first major update in close to a year.

MIUI 9 will introduce new features to Xiaomi users, as it's based on Android Nougat. Nougat was released last year, though, so it's quite amusing that MIUI updates are, for the most part, one year behind, Leaks have touted new features including a screen recorder, split recorder, and an all-around smoother experience. Hopefully, this update deals with MIUI's aggressive ram management as well.
