The Game Speed Booster optimizations are now available for the MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM, as well as for the Chinese Beta and Chinese Stable ROMs. Thanks to this tool, the user can disable navigation buttons or keep a steady brightness level while playing, and more.

When it comes to optimizing the setup of an Android smartphone for gaming, there is much more to take into account than just the performance boost that can be provided. In most cases, incoming notifications or navigation buttons that keep going on and off as you touch the display can ruin the whole experience much more than one or two less frames per second. Fortunately for Xiaomi users who use the Chinese brand's MIUI ROMs on their handsets, the Game Speed Booster has just been added to the Chinese Beta/Stable and Global Beta MIUI 9 ROMs.

According to the official forum post about this feature, the list of settings that can be optimized for gaming by it is quite comprehensive. These are the highlights of this list:

  • automatic cache clearing
  • performance mode for maximum processor speed (and heat/power draw, sadly)
  • hands-free answering to calls
  • "Do Not Disturb" mode that turns off all notifications, except for calls
  • the ability to turn off navigation buttons
  • display brightness fix for constant brightness while playing

Obviously, all the settings of the Game Speed Booster for MIUI 9 can be enabled or disabled manually. After all, in many cases there is no need to run with the CPU pushed to full speed, when the games you play run fine with a lower clock speed, thus generating less heat and providing an increased autonomy.

Unfortunately, this feature has not been included in the Global Stable ROM yet, but we have no doubt that it is only a matter of time until Xiaomi does it. However, it might take longer to see this available as a separate app for the Android One-powered Xiaomi Mi A1.
