Xiaomi Book S 12.4" laptop announced with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, 16:10 screen and an affordable price tag
A previous leak talked about Xiaomi's competitor for Microsoft's Surface Pro X. The Xiaomi Book S 12.4" has officially been launched alongside the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 and other peripherals. It is a thin and light laptop-tablet hybrid that focuses more on portability instead of raw performance. The Xiaomi Book S 12.4" will cost €699 and go on sale starting June 21. The tablet and keyboard cover combo will cost €799. Users who make a purchase between June 21 and June 30 (Xiaomi's official website only) are eligible for a free pair of Redmi Buds 3 Pro.
The Xiaomi Book S 12.4" is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2. It is essentially a spruced-up Snapdragon 855 for notebooks with a 7 W power budget, 2.84 GHz boost clock and an Adreno 680 GPU. One can pair it with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The latter is expandable up to 512 GB via the included micro SD card slot. Lastly, the included 38.08 Wh/4,920 mAh battery supports 65 W fast charging.
Other Xiaomi Book S 12.4" specs include a 12.4-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 16:10 aspect ratio, peak brightness of 500 nits and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. It supports touch inputs and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There is a 13 MP camera sensor at the back and a 5 MP sensor handles selfies and video calls. The laptop runs an ARM-based version of Windows 11 out of the box. Connectivity options on the Xiaomi Book S 12.4" are limited to one USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 5.1.
