Digital Chat Station has shared fresh expectations about what are expected to form two of Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone releases. For context, the company's first 'Pro Max' smartphone is reputed to be joining successors to the Xiaomi 15 Pro and the smaller Xiaomi 15 (curr. $900 on Amazon) during the final week of September.
According to Digital Chat Station, both the Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro will represent one of the biggest generational leaps in Xiaomi's history when it comes to camera hardware. On the one hand, the leaker asserts that Xiaomi is finally moving away from the 32 MP and f/2.0 front-facing camera it has used since the Xiaomi 13 generation. Apparently, this sensor will be replaced by a new 50 MP sensor with a wider field of view and autofocus while maintaining support for 4K/60 FPS video capture.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 16 Pro is expected to benefit from an ultra-high dynamic range 1/1.3-inch primary camera sensor. Although the Xiaomi 16 may receive a 1/1.3-inch primary camera, it will miss out on ultra-high dynamic range capabilities. Nonetheless, both are believed to be gaining a ToF sensor and improved Leica algorithms across its three rear-facing cameras excluding the new ToF sensor. As previous reports have suggested, only the Pro variant is expected to arrive with a periscope telephoto camera.
