While Xiaomi is yet to launch the Xiaomi 15 globally, or the Xiaomi 15 Ultra at all, the company already looks to be working on a mid-year refresh for its premium phones, with a new leak now revealing launch information on the Xiaomi 15S series.
As revealed by leaker Kartikey Singh, Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi 15S series later in the year. Reportedly, it appears only one model is planned—the Xiaomi 15S Pro. The leaker claims sales of the vanilla Xiaomi 15 have been extremely positive, leaving Xiaomi without the need for a refresh in the middle of the year. Instead, the company will present the Xiaomi 15S Pro, with the flagship phone debuting an all-new chipset.
Thankfully, previous leaks have already revealed information on the chipset to power the Xiaomi 15S Pro. As spotted on Xiaomi code, the new chipset will be the Surge S2, internally coded as "XRING". The Surge S2 is an upcoming 3nm chipset built by Xiaomi using ARM cores, and will be a direct successor to the Surge S1 which debuted in 2017 aboard the Mi 5c.
It'll be interesting to see how the Xiaomi 15S Pro is positioned, since recent leaks of the Surge S2 mostly indicate performance on the level of a chipset like the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Ergo, quite lacking when compared to the company's Snapdragon 8 Elite devices.
