The Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro only debuted a few days ago. Nonetheless, DxOMark has already got its hands on both and has subjected them to a series of tests. While Xiaomi markets the pair as masterpieces, DxOMark's tests suggest otherwise. In fact, the website considers plenty of superior alternatives at a US$600-US$800 price bracket, including the iPhone 14, OnePlus 11 and Galaxy S23.
Unfortunately for Xiaomi, DxOMark's tests reveal several weaknesses, whether that be the pair's displays, battery life or cameras. For example, the Xiaomi 13T achieved 123 points in the website's camera tests, putting it 60th overall and 9th in its US$600-US$800 premium ranking despite featuring a professional Leica camera system. Surprisingly, this score puts the Xiaomi 13T behind the Xiaomi 12T Pro, which sits in 4th among premium-ranked smartphones.
The same applies to the 6.67-inch AMOLED display that Xiaomi includes in the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro. For reference, the large AMOLED display operates at 1220p and 144 Hz in both models with 2,600 nits peak brightness. According to DxOMark, it observed no discernable improvements from the equivalents in their predecessors, which are also 6.67-inch and 1220p AMOLED panels. However, they offer a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 900 nits brightness.
The Xiaomi 13T Pro cannot match the battery runtimes of the Xiaomi 11T Pro or Xiaomi 12T Pro either and is 70th overall in this regard. In short, it appears that the Xiaomi 13T series is not necessarily the upgrade that Xiaomi hoped over last year's Xiaomi 12T series.
