The 12S Ultra is the device in which Xiaomi has debuted the Sony IMX989 camera sensor for its smartphones. Despite this, the Leica-tuned flagship lags behind others from its OEM in terms of maximum charging speeds. Now, a famous leaker asserts that the company intends to correct this in the next premium mobile device to rock a 1-inch sensor.

The 12S Ultra currently stands out as the only Xiaomi flagship smartphone to boast a 1-inch sensor as a main rear camera. However, should a new Digital Chat Station tip prove accurate, it will not have the spec to itself for that much longer, and could be blown out of the water by its spiritual successors in another way on top of that.

Unlike its equally Leica-branded Pro counterpart, the 12S Ultra has been saddled with last-gen 67W charging for its 4,680mAh battery.

As if to add insult to this injury, it is now rumored to become supplanted by devices that have both 1-inch main cameras and charging speeds that go at 100W, if not more.

This new wave of Xiaomi smartphones may or may not be led by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered 13 Ultra, and might start emerging from the start of 2023. Furthermore, some just might be cheaper, not to mention more widely available than, the 12S Ultra.
