This week there are five new games for Xbox Game Pass subscribers - and four of them are new releases that will be added to Microsoft's gaming subscription directly on the day of release.

Microsoft often adds new games to Xbox Game Pass on their release day, but it’s rare to see so many debuting at once. This week, however, is an exception. Game Pass subscribers can look forward to four brand-new titles: Eternal Strands, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, Sniper Elite: Resistance and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector. The only older addition is Shady Part of Me, which originally launched in 2020.

By the way: On January 31, six games will be removed from the Xbox Game Pass.

Eternal Strands - January 28 (Cloud, console and PC)

In this third-person action-adventure, players take on the role of Brynn, a young weaver with magical powers determined to reclaim her people’s heritage. Eternal Strands features an open, dynamic world filled with opportunities for exploration and interaction, including climbing, navigating obstacles and defeating enemies using elemental magic. Some battles demand strategic thinking, as Brynn faces towering foes that can only be conquered by scaling them and targeting their weak points.

Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap - January 28 (Cloud, Xbox Series X/S and PC)

Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap is an action-packed third-person shooter where players defend rifts against relentless waves of orcs and other creatures. What sets it apart is its blend of intense combat and strategic gameplay, requiring players to carefully place traps to halt the oncoming hordes. The game features both single-player and co-op modes for up to four players, with procedurally generated levels and a wide variety of enemies ensuring plenty of replayability.

Shady Part of Me - January 29 (Cloud, console and PC)

Shady Part of Me is an emotional puzzle platformer that tells a poignant story of fear and self-discovery. Players control both a girl and her shadow, working together to escape a surreal, dreamlike world. While the girl navigates in 3D, her shadow moves along walls and surfaces in 2D, creating unique puzzle sections. Progress relies on switching perspectives and manipulating light and shadow to overcome challenges. The hand-drawn visuals and atmospheric soundtrack add an extra layer of charm and depth.

Sniper Elite: Resistance - January 30 (Cloud, console and PC)

This third-person shooter takes players to occupied France in 1944. As Special Agent Harry Hawker, you join the French Resistance to sabotage a German "wonder weapon" and help bring the war to an end. The gameplay blends the series’ signature sniper mechanics with stealth elements, while the iconic X-Ray kill cam makes a return, graphically showcasing the impact of precision shots. New to the game are the 'Propaganda Missions,' where players take on the role of Resistance fighters completing time-sensitive operations against German forces.

Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector - January 31 (Cloud, console and PC)

Citizen Sleeper 2 is a dice-based RPG where players step into the role of a "Sleeper", an AI trapped in a failing body, who has escaped to the Starward Belt to take control of a ship and assemble a crew. The goal is to survive and build a new life. Gameplay revolves around a unique dice system: each day, players generate dice based on their character's condition, which can then be used for tasks like trading, repairs and other actions. The game features an open world brimming with intriguing locations and rich stories to uncover.
