Vivo Y02s launches with a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset and a 5,000 mAh battery
Vivo has announced the Y02s, a smartphone that looks like many of the company's current mid-range roster. However, the Vivo Y02s is actually a budget option with a single rear-facing camera and a 720p display. Specifically, Vivo installs an 8 MP rear-facing camera, which has an f/2.0 aperture and is capable of shooting videos in up to 1080p. Similarly, the Vivo Y02s has a 5 MP front-facing camera set within a waterdrop notch.
Additionally, the Vivo Y02s has a 6.51-inch IPS display that outputs at 1,600 x 720 pixels. Also Vivo has included the Helio P35, a chipset that MediaTek released in 2018. Still found in smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy A03s, the Helio P35 has eight ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU based on a 16 nm node. Moreover, Vivo equips the Y02s with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of expandable storage, a typical memory configuration for a cheaper Android smartphone.
Furthermore, Vivo includes a USB Type-C port, rather than the micro USB standard that some Android OEMs continue to try to get away with. For reference, the device's USB Type-C port recharges its 5,000 mAh battery at 10 W; wireless charging is not supported. Incidentally, Vivo has found space for a 3.5 mm headphone jack, which Android OEMs continue to be in favour of phasing out. Currently, Vivo has only introduced the Y02s in Taiwan, where it sells for TWD 3,990 (~US$132) with Funtouch OS 12 installed, Vivo's version of Android 12.
