Vivo X Fold Plus: Details of Vivo's Galaxy Z Fold4 rival leak ahead of launch
Vivo looks set to bring another foldable phone to the market. The company launched the Vivo X Fold earlier in the year and is geared to refresh it shortly with the Vivo X Fold S, with details of the foldable now leaking ahead of release.
According to Digital Chat Station, the Vivo X Fold S could actually be marketed as the Vivo X Fold Plus. The new foldable will, of course, be aimed straight at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 in the Chinese market. Supposedly, the Vivo X Fold Plus will feature a 50 MP main camera, aided by a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12 MP 2x portrait camera, and an 8 MP 5x periscope zoom lens. At the front of the phone will be a 16 MP selfie camera. Those are impressive camera specs, and ensure that the foldable doesn't lose out to the Galaxy Z Fold4 in that aspect—on paper, at least.
The Vivo X Fold Plus will trade in the Vivo X Fold's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 for the newer, improved Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The upcoming foldable will see some other improvements over the device it refreshes: it's expected to see a battery capacity increase from 4600 mAh to 4700 mAh, with charging also going up from 66 W to 80 W. Those are more impressive than what the Galaxy Z Fold4 offers, too.
The Vivo X Fold Plus is expected to debut later this month and, if priced like the Vivo X Fold, should undercut the Galaxy Z Fold4. For some perspective, the X Fold started at CNY 8,999, while the Galaxy Z Fold4 begins at CNY 12,999.
