Verdict on the Sony Xperia Pro-I: Only worth it with smartphone accessories?

In our review, we were not entirely happy with the pictures the 12-MP main camera takes during daily use. When using the auto mode, the pictures are somewhat lacking in terms of the dynamic range and sharpness. The autofocus primarily struggles when it comes to close-up objects - we observed the same behavior on other Sony smartphones such as the Xperia 5 III. Low-light scenes are not exactly the strong suit of the Pro-I, either. For a flagship from the Xperia range with an MSRP of 1798 USD that prides itself on its camera setup, both the 12-MP ultra-wide-angle and the 12-MP telephoto cameras are somewhat lackluster. For these two cameras, users should temper their expectations. The pictures are severely lacking in terms of dynamic range and the sharpness is not very high.

Sony equips its flagship smartphone with a couple of interesting accessories, which certainly makes the Xperia Pro-I an interesting consideration for professional users. Combined with the camera software, which offers a lot of adjustable settings and video recordings at UHD resolution with 3840 x 2160 pixels at 120 FPS, and the camera accessories, the Xperia Pro-I is an exciting device for productivity.
