OnLeaks has revealed a first look at the Xperia Ace 3, the successor to last year's Xperia Ace 2. Released only in Japan, the Xperia Ace 2 has a 5.5-inch display, a Helio P35 SoC and measures 140 x 69 x 8.9 mm. Also, the compact handset weighs 159 g and is IP68 certified against dust and water. Sony released the Xperia Ace 2 in three colours too, each costing JPY 22,000 (~US$190).
In comparison, OnLeaks expects the Xperia Ace 3 to measure 139.7 x 68.6 x 9.1 mm, making it slightly larger than the iPhone 13 mini. Predictably, Sony has re-used an existing design with the Xperia Ace 3, as it is expected to have done with the Xperia 1 IV, Xperia 5 IV and Xperia 10 IV. Hence, the Xperia Ace 3 has a notched display, comparatively thick bezels and rounded corners.
Moreover, Sony equips the Xperia Ace 3 with two cameras, an LED flash, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port. As OnLeaks' renders show, the Xperia Ace 3 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner too, rather than one embedded beneath its display. Currently, it remains unknown whether Sony will launch the Xperia Ace 3 outside Japan and in what month the smartphone will debut. If its predecessor is anything to go by, the Xperia Ace 3 could arrive in May.
