Ugreen launches affordable e-ink phone case with 3.7-inch six-color screen and passive NFC

Ugreen has introduced the Magic E Ink phone case for the iPhone 18 Pro and 17 Pro series in September 2026, and now, it's available for purchase in China. The main idea isn't much different from what many Chinese companies have been offering on AliExpress, but Ugreen claims this is the "first-ever" six-color e-ink display.
Most of the others, on the other hand, come with a four-color e-ink scren. This advantage, per Ugreen, allows the Magic E Ink phone case to display "vivid colos and delicate layers." As for the panel itself, it's 3.7 inches and positioned on the lower part of the case, and the transparent portion keeps the screen from seeming like it's out of place.
The company further highlights that the e-ink screen relies on passive NFC technology, meaning it doesn't continuously draw power to display content. There's a dedicated button on the case to disconnect the NFC antenna, ensuring the phone's NFC functions, such as tap-to-pay, remain unrestricted.
Setting up the e-ink display on the back of the phone case seems easy as well, with Ugreen highlighting instant content switching through the Smart Connect app. There are bumpers on the corners, and the front side has raised edges for drop resistance.
As for the price, the Ugreen Magic E Ink phone case has a launch price of CNY 279, which is around $41. There are black, burgundy red, and white color options available, and it's unclear when the company will officially launch it globally. However, for those interested, third-party stores are already offering it on AliExpress.
