The Toshiba Satellite P875-102 signals the arrival of third generation Intel Core power at the company and we have to admit that it's off to a flying start. Not only is this laptop an incredibly powerful and slick 17-incher, it also looks good and comes with a price-tag that represents great value for money.

The Toshiba Satellite P875 uses the latest Intel processors and Nvidia Graphics cards to offer an excellent performance for both office and gaming tasks. The metal shell and Blu-ray player are nice touches but the lack of a Full HD screen is a big let-down.

Expensive entertainer. Powerful hardware, strong speakers and a built-in Blu-Ray drive - let the fun begin. Toshiba's new multimedia all-rounder has its strengths but is let down by the poor screen. Is the notebook still worth its price of 1200 Euro (~$1500)?

A 17.3in notebook with lots of style and plenty of speed, but it could use improvements in some areas. The Satellite P870 is great as a desktop replacement notebook. It's comfortable to use thanks to its good keyboard and mostly vibrant screen, and we like its speakers. It also doesn't get warm and the noise from its fan is reasonable when the unit is under a heavy workload.

The Toshiba Satellite P875 is a bulky Windows 8 desktop-replacement laptop. with some powerful components but the package is marred by its low grade display. Build quality is also wanting given the high price.

However, if you can get past its bulky design and sub-par touchpad, the Toshiba Satellite has a lot to offer for its mid-tier price. Watching movies or listening to music is an absolute blast on the machine thanks to its gorgeous 17.3-inch display and quality audio. Additionally, the machine proves to be extremely capable offering strong performance levels with its 2.4GHz processor and 8GB or RAM. The notebook even offers a great keyboard, granted the touchpad often in the way. For users who don't need portability, and want a device that offers strong visuals and performance, the Toshiba Satellite P875 is an excellent choice.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M:
Multiple models based on various chips of the Fermi generation. Specifically, the GT 630M exists in GF108/GF106/GF116 variants, but are all essentially renamed GeForce GT 540M or 555M GPUs. A 28nm GF117 variant exists as well with reduced power consumption.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M: Middle class graphics card of the 600M series based on the 28nm GK107 chip (Kepler architecture).
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
3610QM:
An Ivy Bridge-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.3 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4000 GPU running at 650-1100 MHz on a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.
3630QM: An Ivy Bridge-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.4 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4000 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.

76.17%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
