Todd Snyder has released a new collaboration piece with Timex, introducing the Olive Marlin Automatic as a limited-edition model on the designer’s online store. It is priced at $279 and listed as a TS Exclusive, with no promotional discounts applicable. Only a single size option is available.
This release is the newest one in a long partnership between the two brands. We're pretty familiar with Timex. Todd Snyder, on the other hand, is known for his modern tailoring and American design influences. The designer has used past Timex collaborations to revive archival styling and classic silhouettes. Many of their earlier joint models sold out quickly due to limited production.
The new Olive Marlin Automatic is based on Timex’s 1960s Marlin line, which was one of the company’s early attempts at mainstream mechanical watches during the post-war mechanical boom. The model keeps the vintage design style of the original, but now features a Japanese automatic movement, visible through an exhibition caseback. The rotor is engraved with the Timex wordmark, and the movement is listed as 21-jewel. The product page doesn't reveal the exact movement, but Gear Patrol states it's a Miyota automatic movement.
The case diameter comes in at 38 mm with an 18 mm lug width, which is a traditional, compact size that should suit a wide range of wrists. The stainless-steel case is polished silver tone, paired with an olive green dial and applied markers. The hands and indices are designed for a clean look without additional clutter.
The watch is fitted with a brown leather strap with an embossed crocodile pattern and traditional buckle closure. It offers 50 metres of water resistance, enough for daily wear. The crystal appears to be domed acrylic. The Olive Marlin is more of a dress-leaning mechanical option.
The watch is currently available to purchase directly through the Todd Snyder website. Alternatively, you can check out the Timex Meridian 44mm Watch on Amazon.
