Timex has just launched the Atelier Marine M1a, and it's the first watch in its new Atelier lineup. The Marine M1a is available in two configurations, one featuring a stainless steel bracelet priced at $1,050 and the other using an NBR synthetic rubber strap at $950. Both models share a 41mm stainless steel case, 13mm in height, with a skeletonized design and reinforced plated steel mid-case. The watch uses a Swiss automatic movement supplied by CATENA SA, with 29 jewels, a power reserve of 36 hours, and a 28,800 vph beat rate.
The crystal is made from double-curved sapphire, treated with triple-layer anti-reflective coating to bump up clarity and scratch resistance. On the dial, Timex uses a black enamel base and applies silver markers and hands, each filled with Swiss Luminova for low-light conditions. The bezel features a ceramic inlay with a unidirectional rotating action and elapsed time index, supplemented again by Swiss Luminova. Water resistance is rated at 200 meters, which makes the watch suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and recreational scuba diving. For strap options, the stainless steel model uses a deployant clasp and removable, self-adjustable links, while the NBR rubber version gets you a more technical look, but a similar fit.
Both versions display the movement through a caseback window and feature a signed crown. According to Timex, the Marine M1a is not a limited edition and will be sold online through the Timex Atelier website, as well as through select physical outlets. There are no promotional offers or early-bird discounts announced at launch. All technical details, materials, and specifications are identical across the two variants, with the only customer choice relating to the strap material and price.
