This cult game from your childhood has been remade with the help of Unreal Engine 5. And the end result is breathtaking.

The arrival of Unreal Engine 5 has allowed many games to enjoy breathtaking graphics while getting closer to reality. And while some games released many years ago have been able to take advantage of this technological advance, such as this cult game from the early 2000s, a game from your childhood has also benefited. And the result is very surprising.

The game in question is Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, originally released on Windows, Mac, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, and PlayStation in 1999. It was developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Activision and Disney Interactive.

In this cult video game, you play Buzz Lightyear and your main objective is to rescue Woody, Andy's favorite cowboy, who has been kidnapped by an evil collector. As you progress, you will discover many landscapes that recreate the settings and universe of the films. It's worth noting that the soundtrack is also high quality, featuring music from the hit films.

So, while this game is popular with many players, it certainly deserves a remake with Unreal Engine 5. And that's exactly what YouTuber Level reDesign has done. He decided to remaster the first level of Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, which plunges you into Andy's house.

Looking closely at the details of this project, we can see that the graphics have been updated while retaining a childlike feel that stays true to the Toy Story films. But that's not all, as the movements are fluid, allowing players to enjoy the gameplay. Not to mention that the lighting adds a modern touch, which is not insignificant in terms of the visual aspect.

However, changes have been made by this YouTuber, who is also the leader of this project. Some checkpoint systems have been modified, while others remain faithful to the originals. In addition, the movements and fluidity of the latter have also been improved, as have the dark areas, which are now better lit.

But if you want to play it, there's one thing to keep in mind: this project is not available for sale. That said, you can still revisit this game that was part of your childhood via the PlayStation Store if you have a PS4 or PS5. Note that a second part will be released in less than two weeks.
